David Coast is the Founder and CEO of The Coast Global, a digital agency, and the founder of Colony, an AI project management platform that turns a plain-language goal into a plan, then does the follow-through until the work is done.
My story
When I lost my job, I lost more than a paycheck. For a stretch, home was the back seat of my car. I could have treated that as the end of the story. I treated it as the starting point.
I lost my corporate job in America, and instead of looking for another one, I bet on myself. Everything I owned came down to one suitcase, a laptop, and a guitar. I drove one way to Miami with no plan B.
For months, my car was home. I worked out of Starbucks by day, showered at Planet Fitness, and built late into every night, shaping the studio that would become The Coast.
I built The Coast Global from nothing. No investors, no safety net, just client work done well enough to earn the next client. The agency is still running today, and it taught me what founders actually need, because I was living it.
I knew what it felt like to be overlooked, so I built a studio for the overlooked: founders, artists, and dreamers with everything to prove and no budget to prove it. That is still who The Coast is for.
Then I bet on myself again. Colony is the result: an AI project manager built for people carrying big goals with small teams. In January 2027, it heads to Web Summit Qatar as an ALPHA startup. The distance between that car seat and that stage is the whole point.
“Rock bottom was not a detour. It was fuel.”
